At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me... - 2 Timothy 4:16-17
Eagles aren't made stronger by gliding with the wind, but against it - and often alone.
Great leaders aren't made great by waiting around for someone to confirm or affirm them. Neither are they afraid to do what it takes, for as long at it takes, even if it takes going it alone to accomplish what God has put to their hand to do.
When God prepares us for and calls us to a higher and grander purpose beyond our capability and comfort, we often will find ourselves standing alone. Why? Because when He calls us from and calls us to - we go through changes. We are no longer comfortable playing in the same sand box. And we develop a sense of independence where flying with the flock becomes confining.
Family members may not understand the change in you. Some friends will question your ability to accomplish what God has placed in your heart to do. Others will see your growth, be envious of it, jealous of you and will turn their back. Good. Like Paul, let them go and pray that God doesn't hold it against them.
Know that when God calls you to a task, no matter who abandons you or walks away, you and I will never stand alone.
Jesus promises to never leave us. No matter how difficult or challenging the task, this is a promise we can bank on. Not only will He not leave us, He will strengthen and emboldened us every step of the way.
Don't get disheartened when people leave you. God is with you and the Holy Spirit will help you. That's what he is there for. Don't let it discourage or depress you when people walk away. Know they were meant to part with you at this point in your journey. Thank God, wish them well and keep soaring.
