No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man (or woman) who trusts in You! – Psalm 84:11-12
Sometimes we pray and pray - get others to pray for us and God remains silent.
The heavens aren't opening up and nothing is being pressed down, shaken together and running over in our life. In fact, just the opposite.
During these dry times everything appears to dry up - finances, opportunities, relationships. We find little satisfaction in anything and we are emotionally drained with no end in sight. And the most frustrating thing is, we keep praying and nothing happens.
It appears as though God is not only depriving us, but altogether ignoring us.
After a while, we may begin to get a view of God that is not true as our faith turns to despair and despair to anger as we believe that maybe He's not the God we have come to believe - being anything but good, kind, giving and merciful.
That is just not our experience right now. But God is not that kind of God.
As flawed human beings, we can't begin to fathom the ways of God and certainly can't comprehend the pure love of God.
But God is pure light, pure love, there is no darkness in Him at all and certainly not a mean or uncaring spirit.
He never deprives us and promises to withhold no good thing from us. What appears "good" to us, God knows for certain if it is or isn't.
Sometimes the thing that looks so good to us and we want so badly - that new car, job, promotion, elected office, or relationship may appear good to us, but bad for us by a perfect God who knows perfectly well all things.
It could be that if we were to get the car, job, office or relationship we have been praying for, that somewhere down the road, it will cause nothing but heartache, stress and strain, even though now it looks totally good.
God has been to the end of that road and back and knows where every pothole is and if it ultimately leads to a dead-end.
God only wants the best for us and will only give us what is and will be good and in accordance with His will. Only He knows for certain what that is.
Hold on and hold out. We are told to freely and boldly ask. Jesus made this possible. Keep asking until He answers. He will answer.
If God has not yet answered, it's because He has something better in store according to His plan and not our demands. Or, He sees something we can't. Either way, trust His heart even though you're not seeing His hand.
He only wants what is best for us. What looks good now could be rottenness to our bones later. After all, that piece of fruit looked mighty good to Eve.
Wait on God. Don't settle for what you believe is good. Wait on a God that knows what is good and is all too willing to supply it.
What have you been praying for and getting frustrated about because it appears that God isn't listening or doesn't care? Ask Him to give you a spirit of contentment until such time He is ready to give you His best.
