In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? – Psalm 56:11
Ahab was king, but Jezebel was queen and she ruled, overruled and super ruled him and everyone in Israel except one man – Elijah.
Jezebel held sway not only over every governmental official, but all 850 pagan “religious leaders” in the kingdom.
Every leader was afraid of her wrath and told her only what she wanted to hear except Elijah. She hated him for it.
Jezebel sought every way to destroy him. She brought into question his character, tried to sully his name, even threatened his life. Why? Because Elijah stood for what was right and as long as he was around Jezebel couldn’t carry out all the evil she wanted to do.
Was Elijah uncomfortable sometimes? Yes. Was he afraid sometimes? To the point once of running for his life. But God sent him right back.
One of the reasons God has placed you in the environment, office or position that He has is so that you, like Elijah, will be a reflection of what is right. Those around you who seek to do evil, like Jezebel, will not be able to do all the evil they want simply because they know you are there.
Keep standing firm. Keep doing what is right in the eyes of God. You are there by design for God's purposes. He will protect you as He did Elijah and will not allow your Jezebel in any way to harm you.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke
