The Gift That Keeps On Taking, Taxing and Redistributing

It's not the government's responsibility to provide for our children. It's not the government's responsibility to pay for childcare for children that people choose to bring into the world. It's not the government's responsibility to provide "free ANYTHING."

And don't get me started on the public school system.

Government produces NOTHING. It takes, taxes and redistributes what taxpayers make. If it's free, SOMEBODY paid for it.

What happened to personal responsibility? What happened to pride and some sense of self-respect? This isn't Republican or conservative - it's called maturity and taking personal responsibility for personal decisions.

If you choose to have sex and get pregnant and want an abortion, why should I have to pay for it?

If you want to have sex and you're not married and want to take birth control pills but can't afford them, why should everyone else have to pay for your promiscuity and ill-informed decision?

If you want to go to college - do like most of us did - get a job. Two if you have to. I had neither a mother or father and earned - EARNED a BA and an MA.

Friends who didn't have to work would drive through the McDonald's on North Street in Nacogdoches Texas to laugh at me in my uniform. Guess what, they sure as hell not laughing today. I can buy most of them two times over.

I mopped floors, walked back to the dorm way past midnight because I had to work the late shift because I went to class during the day. Scared. No car.

So please, I'm black too. I was poor too. I grew up in racist East Texas having to see white only signs. But I didn't expect the government to take care of me. My attitude was just get out of my way and leave me alone.

So please kids, no sympathy here. None. Get a job. Work your way through school. Don't have babies you can't afford. And don't look for handouts. There is no free lunch, or breakfast or dinner or snack. Plenty of days I had nothing but water.

Am I the only one who thinks all of this is crazy? And what's so scary are the number of millennials who grew up getting participation trophies and never having to experience the maturity that comes with sucking it up when you lose are all onboard and think all of this is cool - and you have folks like the Bernie Sanders of the bunch, reinforcing this craziness and laziness. It's crazy.

As I watched Bernie Sanders on CNN Townhall last night, I all but blew a gasket. All the talk of free stuff. Hello! It's not free. It's the redistribution of hard-earned money by hard-working, well-meaning people.

Yes, the Bible says to be charitable. Yes, it teaches to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and, as we do unto the least of these Jesus said we do also unto Him. But he was talking about individuals - not the government!

The government has perfected the art of being charitable with other people's money.

Between the racists (and yes black people can be racists too) and the socialists, God help us!
