Created According to Plan

Of all the battles in life we will fight, chief among them will be the battle within. We can fight with our spouse in the morning and make up by evening.  We can have a heated disagreement with a colleague during a meeting and send an apologetic e-mail later in the day.  However, the one battle that is not easily assuaged is between the image in the mirror and the image we want to mirror.

How many times have we wished we could do something like someone else? Be someone else? Be positioned as someone else? Look like someone else?  Think of the hundreds of millions if not a few trillion dollars spent annually nipping here, tucking there; trying to be something or someone we’re not – or worse, trying to fit someone else’s idea of who we should be.

For years I struggled with low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence because, from the time I was a child through young adulthood, people made fun of the way I looked.  Today, that would be called bullying. However, the Lord revealed something to me that changed my life and set me on the course to walk and prosper in my destiny. It’s not a secret, and if you get it, it may do the same for you.

God, Elohim, the Creator of heaven and earth and us all, crowned us with glory and honor. He is a God of purpose, a God of strategy and a God of order.  He is the true Commander-in-Chief.  As with any great commander, He has a master plan to frustrate the plans of the Adversary (Satan) and caches of weapons in His arsenal to defeat the devil’s sinister schemes.

However, the weapons are no good without men and women trained in various areas of combat - a force camouflaged in different ways, which wisely and frequently refers back to the battle plan (His Word) so they can effectively carry out the orders of the Commander-in-Chief.

When those of us who are believers committed our life to Christ, we signed up to be soldiers in His army. Our battle plan is the Bible. The weapons are the scriptures, hidden away in our heart to be brandished at the enemy on queue.  Since God knows the end from the beginning, He drafted us long before we enlisted, even before we were born. He designed and had a place in the formation for each of us.

Some of us would be deployed in world systems as teachers, others as photographers, public servants, janitors, doctors, lawyers, secretaries, and the list goes on.  But wherever the deployment, the battle plan had already been drawn.  We just have to follow the plan.

The Commander-in-Chief has made sure we are equipped with the necessary armor and weapons (gifts and talents); and, He has strategically positioned us to frustrate the plans of the enemy - not join in with him by despising the very qualities with which we have been equipped to defeat him!  Even worse, envying and/or destroying someone else who is effectively operating in his or her designated place.

In order to model the image I wanted, I first had to stop believing Satan’s lies spoken about me and over me by others and start believing God’s truth spoken about me and over me in His word.  I am wonderfully made and uniquely gifted to do just what I have been assigned to do and so are you.

God carefully fashioned every feature, mixed every color for just the right hue, textured unique blends of hair fibers and perfected a personality that is uniquely yours, uniquely mine, but all so that we would fit nicely into the enemy’s camp – not to camp out, but to stamp out his influence. Don’t miss this because this is what turned on the light bulb for me:

We are who we are because God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to create us the way we are – down to the very last detail.  Believing anything else is a lie and you will continue to live in defeat, depression, and doubt.

You and I were created according to plan, on purpose and for purpose. Your purpose isn’t mine, nor mine yours and the foot soldier is as valuable in the Commander’s plan as the paratrooper. Don’t let the devil fool you or you fool yourself. Our job is not necessarily our purpose, but it is our job to discover our purpose.

Even when we think we’ve missed it, Elohim is never without a backup plan. There is always a battle to be won!
