Satan is cunning and Satan is real. He's neither symbolic nor imaginary.
Jesus told us he's about three things - to steal, kill and destroy. And as long as the Adversary can keep us distracted and wasting time, he will be successful in getting us to unknowingly waste our life. Especially so for Christians.
He knows we, for the most part, are on guard for bad things - so he distracts us with good things...all he has to do is distract us enough with good things so that we never get around to doing God things.
It is 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other. Either way, King's X, his mission is accomplished. He's killed enough of our time to diminish our impact for God.
His goal as it relates to time? If he can trick us into wasting our time, he knows it will waste our life.
Our life is lived in increments of what? Time! As long as he can dominate our time, he will diminish our life. Thus our effectiveness for the Kingdom.
Even more, and I have become so aware of this, every hour we spend scrolling through Facebook is an hour we won't spend reading the Bible or a book.
Another play for our time. Why do you think every time you kneel down to pray there are so many things all of a sudden that come to mind you need to do? Urgent it seems now but you didn't give a thought to until you kneeled down to pray.
Or, how often have you begun working on a project or paper for God or in your purpose and the cell phone goes off with a text that you have to answer back and pretty soon, it's multiple texts and an hour or two have passed.
Or, the phone buzzes with a good friend calling who you know has something good to tell you? The conversation lasts two hours.
The time you intended for God stolen by the influence of the Adversary unknowingly on others to get to you. Time gone.
Satan and demons are spirits. One of their major reasons for being is to stop us from praising God, serving God, giving our time to the things of God. Be on guard.
The Adversary knows if he can dominate your time he will diminish your life.
The world says time is money. No. Time is life. And no matter how much money we have, the one thing even the richest man in the world can't buy is more time for himself or those he love. Neither can we.
Don't let the devil keep making you waste time. It's not time you're wasting. It's your life.
